How has partnering with Peterson on the Private Branding Program benefitted your business and helped serve your customers better?
“Out-of-the-box thinking and creativity by the Peterson team with the Private Branding Program opened the door and initially attracted our attention. We were quite happy with our status quo but were quickly sold on the benefits of the program. Our customers like the fully loaded displays in each showroom as it makes for convenience, easy decision making and is a soft reminder that we are in the business. Nobody likes going to a warehouse and seeing the shelves empty.”
What are the most popular Peterson products you distribute? Why do you think they are in high demand?
“We have done well with the 2″ and 4″ round stop/turn/tail and marker lights. Lights found on small, utility trailers are our core market. Customers are great about breaking them and they are great about getting them fixed or replaced. We like to be great at selling them.”
How has your experience with the Peterson sales team been?
“Everyone we’ve encountered at Peterson has been easy to work with. I think the team is rowing in the same direction. We have a tremendous local rep who is very good at visiting, keeping us accountable in refilling the displays and coming to us with new opportunities. Peterson sales management has been very supportive of the program and gives us the confidence that this isn’t just a ‘seasonal’ program, but one that can grow for years to come.”
How do you see your partnership with Peterson evolving?
“As mentioned previously, trust is a big piece of the pie. Peterson is earning that trust and will inevitably earn more business. We don’t like swapping out partners very often. Peterson has done a good job of becoming a partner and is positioned well to grow in the future.”
What is the most rewarding part of working with your customers?
“Customers come to us because they have a problem. They might have a broken part, they might be missing a piece or two to complete a larger assembly, or they need to get materials to finish a job they’ve quoted to their customer. Whatever the reason, it is always fulfilling to be a problem solver—to be a place where customers find solutions, not more problems. Over time, we’ve built solid relationships with customers as we find that we have become partners in our respective businesses. It’s rewarding to help your partner, friend, and associate. We like helping others.”
What values do you prioritize when selecting the products and partners you work with?
“We want to work with suppliers who have integrity and sell quality products at a fair price. It is important that our service, product quality, and pricing stand up to the high expectations of our customers, so we need to source appropriately. When problems arise, as they surely will, we value good communication and partnership as we work through them. This process leads to trust and is the reason we become so loyal to some of our suppliers—we trust them!”

How long have you been a Peterson Partner?
“We began our partnership with Peterson in 2002. Since then, we’ve expanded our inventory to include over 500 SKUs of Peterson products and have seen consistent growth in our lighting sales. Over the years, our lighting plan-o-grams have evolved from primarily halogen and incandescent technologies to a strong focus on advanced LED solutions.
Thanks to the ongoing support and plan-o-gram expertise provided by Peterson, we keep our displays current and well-maintained in the field.”
What are some of the things that Peterson does with Jobbers Automotive Warehouse to stay in front of their customers?
“Peterson has been a valued annual sponsor of our Product Expo and Customer Golf Outing, consistently attending the event, supporting the show, and working hard to offer compelling promotions.
They’ve also participated in our “Roll Out Meetings,” where we invite key partners to spend a week with us, focusing on training and educating our customers.
In addition, Mark, John, and Jack actively support our sales team in the field—assisting with store changeovers, promotions, customer visits, and more. Their hands-on involvement is a key part of our ongoing success.”
What are the most popular Peterson products you distribute? Why do you think they are in high demand?
“We sell a significant volume of small- to medium-duty LED lighting products, including S/T/T ovals, 2” round, 2 ½” round, and similar styles. Our commercial business is broad and diverse, serving everyone from farmers with hay beds, work beds, and various trailers to the Kansas Department of Transportation and even operators of 52-foot livestock trailers across Western Kansas.
These lighting products are popular across multiple markets and we’re proud to have a strong presence in all of them.”
