POSITION OBJECTIVE
The Design Engineer 1, under the direction of the Engineering Manager, is responsible for designing products, components, and systems and assisting in their introduction into production. In this role, the Design Engineer has the responsibility to ensure the electrical elements of our products perform up to product specifications and meet customer demand. This is considered an entry-level position for a degreed Engineer. This is an on-site position based at Peterson Manufacturing’s corporate offices in Grandview, MO.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conceptualize, design, develop, and test components and products
- Participate in project teams and activities related to new product development
- Evaluate systems, products, components, and applications by designing experiments and applying technical knowledge
- Verify component and system capabilities by designing testing methods
- Develop products by understanding customer requirements, researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials
- Assure product quality by designing test methods; test finished products and system capabilities
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team setting and to develop working relationships with associates at all levels of the organization
- Working knowledge of AUTOCAD and AUTOCAD VAULT software
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to convert concepts into working systems
- Possess an attitude conducive to meeting deadlines
- Possess a cooperative attitude
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent work experience in AutoCAD, Mechanical Engineering or Drafting
- Experience in the design and analysis of electrical or mechanical systems
- Operate a 3D Printer
ENVIRONMENT
- Duties are performed out of Peterson Manufacturing’s offices and manufacturing facilities.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 80% of the time and be able to occasionally move about inside the office and manufacturing facilities
- Must be able to communicate with others (internal and external) and must be able to exchange accurate information in all situations.
